‘Letters from Linnaeus’ Sterling Silver Pendant
My ‘Letters from Linnaeus’ series references the work of Carl Linnaeus (1707-1778). His system for naming, ranking, and classifying organisms is still in wide use today albeit with many changes. His ideas on classification influenced generations of biologists both during and after his own lifetime.
This sterling silver pendant is etched with botanical images and handwriting from Linnaeus’ many written references that still exist today.
The pendant hangs from an oxidized curved tube which houses a 45cm long snake chain. I have oxidized these pieces to give them an aged appearance.
